Average Guy of Average Height

Samuel is a pretty average name. When I got tired of teachers and classmates spelling it wrong (Sameul? Uh…), I started introducing myself as Sam - an even more average name and it’s stuck with me. I’m not particularly tall, athletic, or handsome. I did ok in school, not great. In gym class, I was never the first one picked, but I was also never the last one picked. I’m not the oldest or the youngest child, I’m an only child. Why am I telling you all this? It’s because maybe like me, you thought of yourself as average, and honestly, kind of boring.

Boring Stories

But my life isn’t boring. I may think it’s boring, but it has highs and lows like everyone else. There was the time I won my grade six speech contest; the first time I asked a girl out; the time I failed my lifeguarding exam - these were all heart-pumping action filled moments. Maybe my life wasn’t boring, it just wasn’t being told the right way. Maybe what I needed was a better microphone.

A Better Microphone

I was around 10 when I made my first website on Asian Avenue. It fascinated me that anybody in the world (I was 10, I didn’t know the word communist) could read the message I typed using my plastic keyboard. I didn’t know it at the time, but I now held the same power as the queen - the ability to broadcast worldwide.
